As exciting as content creation can be, it can also be very stressful. With all the ideas popping up in your head you may not know where to start or how to proceed with everything. Luckily you’ve come to the right place!

Head full of ideas? What’s next?

To free your mind of these ideas and all you need to do is create your very own social media calendar or as I like to call it a triple C – content creation calendar. This helps to created a thorough overview of all the upcoming posts and content you want to put out. This helps you to stay onto of your posts and strategies. Now how do you put it all together, well let me tell you how.

Steps to building your triple C

To begin, you’re going to want to start with an audit to your content and networks. You want to be aware of what you are posting on each network as well as how often you are doing so. In addition, having a look into the analytics can help with engaging your audience.

From here, you want to pay close attention to what kind of content you are putting out. Try using the rule of thirds which entails the following:

  • 1/3 of your content will push for conversations and promote the business
  • 1/3 of your content will engage with the audience
  • 1/3 of your content will shared media from the thought leaders within the industry

Social media rule of thirds

Moving onto the third step, you want to determine what the calendar will include. You want to get the most out of your calendar so you need to map it out to suit your goals and not anyone else’s. By using basic things like date, time, and visuals will help you to complete this step.

The last step to your triple C is ensuring you allow for your team to review the calendar and provide their feedback. Everyone on the team has to make sense of the calendar as it will be used by everyone. In addition, it will evolve with your team and your business.

Sometime having a visual layout will ensure that expectations are exceeded, and dates are met. The more organized you are, the less stressed you will be.

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
