This week, we heard from the accomplished Huy Tran, who is currently working as the National Marketing Manager of the Aburi Restaurants, a group of Japanese fine dining restaurants in Toronto, Vancouver and Japan.

Huy has experience in various fields and roles relating to media and marketing including photography, graphic designing, analytics and client relations. He is another example of how valuable it is to be knowledgeable in various skills and more importantly, understanding how each aspect can work together to create marketing success. By understanding metrics and know how to translating that into a new marketing campaign to improve brand awareness and sales is vital. 

I took it upon myself to research the restaurants his team is in charge of and I was really impressed. The photos, designs and websites for Aburi and Minami, a Toronto location, are very well put together. As a consumer or customer, the quality of content including graphics, photos, grammar and brand consistency is truly important as it is the first impression we have. Furthermore, if I was in the situation where I was deciding between two or three different restaurants, I would absolutely consider my experience of researching the various options when coming to a decision. Although the consumer cycle is common for every purchase, when it comes to food and dining, these are decisions you want to make right away so the content posted needs to get your point across in the best quality possible. 

As Huy mentioned in his presentation, consistency is key, as we have been told, but consistency in quality is equally important. The photos and writing that is posted needs to meet the brand standards which may vary per team. In fields such as food and real estate, the quality of photos is pertinent to the buying experience, it is important to budget properly to present the best content to possible consumers. 

In my post graduate experience and while working in any team position, I would like to dive more into the importance of metrics, design and photography and hopefully learn the skills as well to enhance the customer buying experience for future clients.
