Hi there! Welcome back to my weekly blogs where we determine whether the speaker is worth your time and energy! Last week, we looked at Ron Abraham, a co-founder of the digital marketing agency Domin8 Digital. Based on her presentation, we determined that he was a pass, and worth listening to.
This week, our new guest is Huy Tran, an award-winning photographer, as well as a marketing manager and an economist. With multiple degrees, Huy’s work is a mixture of creative, and analytics work that mostly evolves around food and culture.
From the very beginning of his presentation, It was obvious he was a PASS. Working in marketing, and with food – a dream come true.
Throughout his presentation, it was very interesting to hear about his employment experience, the various jobs he was involved in and how he got to the place where he is now. I really enjoyed listening to him talk about his experience and even the part of him losing his job. That information is not important to the topic he discussed, however, it made the presentation feel genuine and made me feel closer to the speaker. He not only explained all the amazing work he has done but also the downfalls of his career.
Another part that was very interesting to hear was how he used his degree in economics to make marketing work better and bring progress to the company. For the longest time, I believed that all you need for marketing was basic media skills, the understanding of how media works, what is content and how to create it, however, he opened my eyes to the idea that data and analytics are also a crucial part in the creation of media.
Huy also discussed the various tools that can be used to analyze and create content, which is a piece of very beneficial information for the future and might help not only me but others who are interested in the following career.
Despite learning these things in school, his presentation was very beneficial in understanding how all these tools and techniques work together, and how to utilize them to build your career in the marketing sphere.
I really enjoyed how he explained his experience, his degrees, and the job he does as a marketing manager, which made me even more interested in the following niche.
Huy Tran is a complete PASS and one of my favourite speakers from the ones we heard before.
Let’s see what other speakers can bring to the table but for now…
Thank you, PASS!
