What’s in the Telescope?
This week’s guest speaker was Dee Thomson, a content creator and blogger with over 11 years of experience. She specializes in lifestyle topics such as beauty, fashion, and travel, and has successfully monetized her blog through affiliate marketing and brand collaborations. Dee shared her journey of starting with a passion project and eventually turning it into a source of income while emphasizing the importance of integrity, authenticity, and staying true to one’s personal values in the content creation space.
How Do the Stars Align?
Dee’s story felt incredibly relatable to my own journey with my Instagram astrology page, ‘Shine With Lukia’. Like her, I’ve been navigating content creation while staying authentic. Dee’s journey really mirrored some of the challenges I’ve faced, from finding a niche to staying consistent. Her story of rebranding and rediscovering her passion reminded me that it’s okay to step back, pivot and experiment with what works best. I’ve already seen myself shifting focus with ‘Shine With Lukia’, which has sometimes brought me feelings of guilt as I still struggle to post consistently amidst these changes. Hearing about Dee’s experiences has given me more confidence to explore different types of content while staying true to my voice.
My Guiding Star:
As I continue to build ‘Shine With Lukia’, I realize that creating meaningful, authentic content is more important than just chasing trends. Dee’s suggestion to track analytics to better understand what’s working is something I’ll implement to grow my audience. Most importantly, I learned that it’s okay to take time to refine my content creation strategy whether through evergreen content or building a personal brand that truly reflects me. Dee’s journey was a reminder that content creation is a long game, and it’s okay to take your time figuring things out. Her story gave me a lot of practical tips that I can apply as I continue growing ‘Shine With Lukia’ into something that feels authentic to me and (hopefully!) connects with others. I feel more motivated now to dive deeper into my content, be more strategic, and stay true to the vision I have for my brand.
