Welcome back to another awesome blog! This week we are going to talk about the importance of planning your content thanks to Christina Newberry and Brayden Cohen. As well, Brooke Ihnat, who is a strategic communication specialist for American Express, helps us understand  how to develop content plans that successfully execute the content goals of the brand/company etc.

Why is having a content calendar important?

A content calendar is essential for content creators because it gives their content production efforts structure, consistency, and organization. It assists content producers in ahead of time planning and scheduling, guaranteeing a consistent supply of content for their viewership. Better time management, the chance to coordinate material with significant occasions or trends, and the capacity to sustain a compelling story over time are all made possible by this proactive approach. A content calendar may also assist producers in preparing ahead of time for unforeseen obstacles and reducing the anxiety associated with creating content at the last minute, which will eventually improve output and quality.

A content calendar might be used by an influencer, such as a fashion influencer, to strategically plan and schedule their social media posts and material. For instance, they could plan their postings for several weeks ahead of time, accounting for significant occasions like fashion weeks and seasonal trends in clothing. They might designate particular days or times for product reviews, outfit of the day (OOTD) postings, brand partnerships, and behind-the-scenes looks at their lives. By doing this, companies can make sure they are ready for promotional events and that their material is in line with the newest trends in fashion while still maintaining a regular publishing schedule that keeps their audience interested and informed. The content schedule would also enable them to accommodate impromptu content creation while preserving a coherent, well-planned online presence.

Brooke Ihnat Expertise

Brooke Ihnat is a strategic communication specialist for American Express who shared many insights on content planning and distribution. For example, she explains how every social media platform can be used for a different purpose of content. For example, instagram can be used for photos as a lifestyle focus, twitter is accomplishment/business focus, and facebook is for building community.  Every channel serves a different purpose, depending on your audience on each platform. It also organizes and structures your content in a more well-rounded way. A content creator will better understand what performs best on each channel depending on how people use them, and ultimately, will get a better understanding of the people who actually care about the content. Brooke also mentions how face-to-face experiences are always the best way to engage the audience to see how the audience interacts with the content, thus, the content creator can gain insights and feedback!

Simple right? That’s all for this week’s blog, and I will catch you in the next one!
