Hello and welcome back to another content strategy blog! This week we met with the wonderful Mitali Gupta. Gupta who is actually a former Humber graduate like myself, thought that she’d end up becoming a journalist specifically a news anchor. It did not turn out the way she envisioned, but she went on to do a bit of research into the public relations industry because it was related closely to the communication industry, which is something that she was very interested in. She then came to Canada to complete a post graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College. After graduating, she gained some experience as an inter right after, however, she wanted to back to school to get a little more insight into the field of marketing, because PR and marketing work hand in hand with one another. In addition, Gupta has had experience in different agencies working alongside a lot of different brands and industries including beauty, lifestyle and health and wellness. In terms of content, Gupta is in charge of the influencer marketing side of it. She then goes on to talk about the steps they take in order to produce quality content. The first thing is telling the brand or company to send them a written script of essentially how they’re going to be shooting the content or what they want to focus on. She then goes on to discuss how regularly reviewing past campaigns I essential for understanding audience preferences. Analyzing what worked and what didn’t can provide insight to refine future strategies. Another great piece of advice she gave was on the use of memes and videos. She mentioned that memes are great for capturing attention, while videos consistently performs best, especially on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Gupta also touched on the preferred content creation tools, that include Canva for graphics and static posts and CapCut and iMovie are best for shorter videos while Adobe is better for more professional high quality video editing. Finally, she shared some amazing and insightful advice for aspiring content creators. The first is making sure you love the work that you’re doing because as everyone knows, it’s not going to feel like work if you love what you do. The second is to don’t be afraid to ask questions, and that no questions are stupid, just ask the question, because you will ever learn if you don’t! Mitali Gupta’s presentation, highlighted the importance of flexibility, continuous learning, and passion in building a successful career. Her insights into the always changing landscape of content and influencer marketing, offer valuable advice for anyone interested in this industry. Her advice to love what you do and never be afraid to ask questions, stupid and all, act as a reminder that development and passion are essential for success in the content production industry, regardless of your level of expertise as a marketer or creator. With platforms like Canva, CapCut, and Adobe, there’s no limit to what you can create, that resonates, engages, and truly stands out with people! Thanks for reading and I’ll be back next week with another engaging and informational presentation! 🙂
