Some Brands Create a Strong Community, Spittin Chiclets Has Achieved This
Spittin Chiclets is a brand created by two former NHL veterans named Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette who took the NHL podcast world by storm with their outspoken and sometimes quite funny takes on anything NHL and beyond. They were the first of their of kind to create such a strong and recognizable brand for the hockey entertainment industry as no one has been able to reach the heights that they have so far. They were able to do this as a result of having two recognizable faces to start who created the brand that everyone knows in the NHL community.
Just after starting up their hockey podcast they partnered up with New Amsterdam Vodka to create a drink called Pink Whitney, which is a play off of one of the creators last names and was a pink lemonade flavoured vodka drink. This beverage you can find everywhere and is very popular to have at any type of party or gathering. They look to continue to expand in their beverage line and recently have with the introduction of the beer Big Deal Brewing, which they have partnered up with Labatt Brewing in order to achieve this.
If you talk to anyone who is a fan of the NHL and ask them what their favourite podcast is, most would say Spittin Chiclets. With the release of new merchandise, an effective and recognizable brand logo and message they were bound for success from the very beginning. Now they are the sponsor for many of the NHL’s events and Bissonnette and Whitney feature at many of the events as the key brand owners and ambassadors to continue growing their strong community even more.
Kayla Stuckart, the guest speaker this week stressed the importance of not only having a strong brand, but also ways to strengthen my content even more. Being able to tell a story through social media using the strong message of my brand is key to not only network myself and my brand even further, but to also stress the importance of effective content.
Personal pages of my content should make me feel comfortable enough to showcase it professionally to a broader audience. Through social media you want people to have a strong first impression about not only yourself, but also your brand. On this personal page if people are not gravitated to you or your content right away it might be an idea to rethink the message and story of your brand or also the vision of how people see you online. The ultimate goal should be able to achieve brand recognition through social media as well as for people to like you and you’re content along with it.
