Hello and welcome back to SOPHIA’S STAMP! This week, we’re diving into the journey of Mitali Gupta, a public relations professional and content creator.
Mitali’s path was not straightforward. She initially intended to pursue a career in journalism but was drawn to public relations after developing an interest in brand storytelling. After studying public relations in Canada, she entered the agency world, working with clients in the beauty, wellness, and other industries. Today, she thrives as an account executive for high-profile brands.
One aspect that particularly stood out to me was Mitali’s emphasis on the benefits of starting her career in an agency. She explained that working at an agency provided her with a diverse range of experiences and introduced her to various clients and strategies. I can relate because when I was thrown into the world of trade shows, it allowed me to meet, network, and make valuable connections. In the sales industry, which I am part of, it’s all about connections and who you know. This environment enabled Mitali to quickly learn how to tailor public relations campaigns to specific targets and audiences, a skill she utilizes daily.
One of her most notable campaigns was for Dairy Farmers of Ontario, which featured citywide “Everybody Milk” initiatives. This included large billboards, a live event at Yonge-Dundas Square, and extensive social media coverage. Hearing about her role in managing press releases, influencer collaborations, and even a live appearance on Breakfast Television helped me realize that a public relations job involves much more than crisis management and social media. It’s about creating unforgettable experiences and bringing businesses to life through creative storytelling. She is doing what I aspire to do one day.
Mitali also provided insight into the current landscape, emphasizing the rise of video content and how she uses tools like Canva and CapCut to meet this growing demand. It’s clear that modern PR merges traditional communication with innovative social media marketing.
Her advice to stay curious, passionate, and committed to continuous learning really resonated with me. She emphasized that if you truly enjoy your work, it won’t feel like a chore, and I believe that’s incredibly important. I firmly believe that I cannot consider myself successful unless I am genuinely passionate about my work, and this passion is reflected in the quality of my output.
She definitely has my stamp of approval! Until next time, stay tuned!
