Welcome back to “My Crazy Life” During the reading week, I indulged in some enjoyable activities. One of them was finishing a song I’d been working on, and the other was visiting my friends’ band as they played a show at a pub. It was a great time, and I thought, why not make something out of this experience? So, before the show, I asked if they needed a photographer. Every artist loves having their photo taken on stage, so I figured it was worth a shot. The lead singer thought it was a fantastic idea, so I grabbed my DSLR and started snapping pictures. That night, three other bands were performing and noticed me taking photos. They asked if I could be their photographer for the evening, and I agreed. By the end of the night, I had made around 85 bucks.
I was amazed at how well my business idea was taking off. The venue even wanted to use my pictures for their social media promotion. So, I went home and created a photography Instagram account, set up a professional email, and secured a website domain. I also began reaching out to other local bands. I couldn’t help but think, wow, I’ve just launched my first mini business. This brought to mind Huy Tran Stoay and his path to becoming an award-winning photographer. I believe I can elevate my photography business and promote it effectively to achieve success. As Huy Tran mentioned, “Content and marketing play hand in hand, but one thing that doesn’t change is trends.” I want to grow my audience, but I understand it will take some time.
The next step to achieving success in my business is to begin content planning and effectively marketing “MCLpics,” similar to the approach outlined in the article on content planning for social media in eight steps. Michelle Martin and Colleen Christison emphasize, “A little bit of planning upfront will make your life easier in the long run, we promise.” I currently have just one post on my Instagram, but as I secure more gigs, my profile will improve. I’m positive that by summer, this can transform into a fantastic side business.
Until the next one, MCL.
