Hello and welcome back to the fourth content strategy blog! This week we met with Ron Abraham Jr, a Dominican born digital marketing expert and international soca DJ. Ron discussed his experiences and knowledge as a digital marketer with a focus on e-commerce for beauty and fashion brands. Ron is a co-founder of Domin8 Digital, a digital marketing agency that assists fashion and beauty brands in scaling up their performance and getting greater return on their marketing efforts. With more than eight years of marketing experience, four of those years were devoted to content creation, he highlights the value of creativity, data-driven methods, and an awareness of consumer psychology when it comes to content strategy. I’ll discuss a few of the most important lessons I learned from his speak in this blog. The first is the order in which content strategists should prioritize using data analytics to track key performance indicators and audience behaviour. Knowing these metrics enables content creators to create content that appeals to particular target audiences. The application of technical and artistic abilities is the second. To generate appealing content, content strategists require not only a data-driven approach but also technical proficiency with programs like Photoshop and video editing software, as well as an awareness of marketing psychology. The idea of taking an audience-centric approach is the third important lesson to be learned. Specific decision-making stages and demographics must be catered to in content. Depending on whether the objective is to generate buzz or drive traffic to the website through re-marketing, content strategy should change accordingly. Ron emphasized the significance of having goal-oriented material as the last key point. While this wasn’t my favourite presentation, as it didn’t capture my attention or keep me interested I think it was useful to learn about how to be a better content strategist with the various tips Ron mentioned. Thanks for reading and be sure to look out for my review on our next presenter! 🙂

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
