Ron Abraham Jr. standing in front of a skylineDuring the guest interview with Ron Abraham Jr., we touched on creating goals and when to make a move to achieve a goal. Ron talked about how if our goal is to make a specific margin on a certain product and we already know that our online content is resonating with customers that it can never be a bad thing to keep pushing out content that we know is working. This is because if we keep creating content that will get seen we will continue to be in the minds of our customers. This means that customers won’t be out looking for new content since they are already thinking about ours.

KPI’s or Key Performance Indicators show how effective your content is. With a KPI you can measure the performance your content is getting. If a piece of content is working well the indication usually be a higher amount of whatever your indicator is. This can be something as simple as 5000 likes compared to your last post getting 400. The higher number of likes indicates that your posts are working and resonating with a viewer. To make it simple we can essentially call a KPI a long-term metric. Although these two terms are not exactly closely related they work together since a metric is a way of viewing data and the KPI is a long term goal that is usually using a metric to gather the data to indicate the success.

According to Ricqcolia Phillip’s speaks about some of the top KPI’s that we should be aware of such as CTR (click through rate) which shows how effective your content is. The higher your CTR is, the more impressions you are making with your content. This is a good KPI to track because when the click rate is high it shows that your content is resonating with your audience. She also says that it ideal to track number of downloads which shows if your content is of a high quality or not. Ricqcolia also says that you should track referral traffic. Studies show that referral traffic is often assumed to be of a high quality, so it is a way to show that people hold your content to a high standard. These KPI’s should be tracked when you are publishing a website as when these indications are high it will be a sign that your content is working and resonating with your followers.

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
