Having helpful tools in your life is useful, whether for cooking or completing an assignment; we all require a bit of extra support now and then. Welcome back to my crazy life! Today, I’m diving into a sensitive subject that is sure to spark both agreement and disagreement among many of you. When we find ourselves in need, we often look to others for support. However, there are times when guidance may not be readily available, and we must seek inspiration or direction to navigate our way toward a swift resolution. Many individuals are embracing AI these days. I can already hear your thoughts—oh no, MCL, this is going to ruin your career and dominate the world! But remember, it will only do so if you let it.

I’m not the most experienced with AI, and it did feel a bit daunting at first. However, after giving it a try, I was amazed. It’s incredible to think about how it could pose a threat, yet also serve as a valuable tool in our society. When listening to the guest speaker Nitin Goyal, who is a data analyst, I found it quite interesting to learn about the main tools he uses to help him succeed in his career. Getting started with Google Calendar is Crucial for connecting and organizing with colleagues, making sure teamwork flows effortlessly. Excel stands out as a reliable tool for organizing, manipulating, and analyzing data. Its flexibility and robust data analysis features make it a favourite choice.

I use those tools in my daily life and find them very useful, though they may require more effort than AI. However, they can definitely help you stay on track. A Forbes article titled “Artificial Intelligence Content: Marketing Friend Or Foe? Three Ways To Use AI Content Tools” emphasizes how AI can drastically reduce the time spent on a project, cutting down the editing and polishing process to just one or two hours. Many individuals misuse AI, but ultimately, it’s your decision.

I prefer to approach music creation methodically, taking my time with each song. While I have tools like Logic Pro and Auto-Tune at my disposal, I don’t rely on them to do the heavy lifting or generate ideas. AI simply can’t capture the emotional depth that a human can bring to songwriting. So, focus on what brings you joy and benefits you the most. Remember, hard work always pays off. And if you’re curious about which tool I prefer to use, it’s definitely my guitar.

Until the Next one – MCL

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
