MDST1300: Media Production Toolkit
Portfolio

Hey! I’m Saamiya and I’m a 3rd year student at Guelph-Humber. Here’s some of my work from the class, Media Production Toolkit, where we explored Adobe Creative Suite programs like Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

Photo Assignment

For this assignment, I used a Nikon DSLR camera to take 10 photos for the brand Sephora. Then, I edited the photos using Adobe Photoshop. The story that I wanted to relay with these pictures is that Sephora brings people comfort and feels personal to users which is relayed through the warmer tone shared amongst the photos. This supports Sephora’s goal of being a brand that fosters positivity and an inclusive community.

Video Assignment

In this assignment, I explored Adobe Premiere Pro and created a 2-3 minute video for Sephora.

Audio Assignment

In the audio assignment, I explored the usage of music and sound effects to creatively narrate a story within 30 seconds for Sephora.

Data Visualization

These are some statistics about Sephora products. Before creating the visual portion, I hypothesized that the rating of products would be higher if the price is higher. Turns out, price doesn’t really matter for products to be rated 3.5 stars or higher! However, really cheap or really expensive products will still get a lower rating.

Land Acknowledgement

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
