This is my Media & Toolkit portfolio, I will showcase and recap the range of media projects that highlight my creativity, growth, and technical skills that I have gained from this particular course. It will begin with a dive into my photo series that demonstrates my ability to capture meaningful visuals though a story perspective. I will also include an audio assignment which reflects on my understanding for sound design, narration, and effective communication through audio. Additionally, my video project will illustrate my skills in filming, editing, and producing visual content. Finally, I will feature a social media edit of my video project, showing my ability to adapt content across online platforms and engage audiences through platform appropriate storytelling.

Photo Series

These are the photos I choose because of the important element of story each photo captures. I wanted to tell and reflect with the atmosphere I aimed to create. Every image was selected for its composition, emotion, and ability to draw the viewer. My main storyline all relates back to sports and athletics, with the photos I captured and wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing moment that can also be cohesive to the story I wanted. The overall theme of these photos can be interpreted in many ways and it’s all about your own journey and perspective.

Audio Assignment

This story highlights the disappointment of losing a game by one point, but also the realization that the loss did not erase the effort or growth behind it. The narrator learns the true goal comes from resilience, from choosing up to show again even after falling short. The moment becomes a lesson about character. Pressure and setbacks aren’t failures but opportunities to grow. In the end, the message is that wins fade away, but the lessons you learn through effort and persistence stick with you forever.

Video Assignment

The video is the journey of an young and up incoming high school student trying to create success in the sport of basketball. It’s driven by something deeper than obligation, we focus on the trials and tribulations it takes to become a high level athlete. This story, shot through a mixtape lens, focuses on the character of Omar “ Aura “ P, and his journey to making it to the next level of basketball. We aren’t focusing on his personal life, just him, the ball and the hoop.

Social Media Edit of Video Project

This video was created as a vertical edit by setting it to a 9:16 portrait aspect ratio, which is the standard format to how we view mobile videos. The original footage was focusing more on close-ups and centering the frame to capture the main purpose of the video. Some additional adjustments considered were repositioning, zooming, and the pacing. This is to ensure the content was naturally smooth on the vertical shots compared to the horizontal edit.
