Reflection on My Portfolio and Semester Experience

In terms of media production, this semester has been an amazing journey of development and exploration. When I think back on my skill set at the beginning of the semester, I can say for sure that my photography and video editing skills have improved the most. My work on the brand photo story, for example, demonstrates my growth as a photographer. I had trouble at first with exposure and photo settings, but with practice and criticism, I was able to improve my strategy and produce a better end result.

The weekly activities were my favourite part of the process since they gave me something to look forward to, let me experiment with new ideas, and allowed me to work with my peers.
I discovered during this process that, as a creator, I am more flexible and inventive than I first thought. I found that I could think quickly and come up with solutions to problems that kept the project going forward, whether they were technical issues, creative blockages, or strict deadlines. I also came to the realization that I work best in settings that encourage creativity and experimentation. experimenting with new instruments and methods, even if they initially seemed difficult.

I plan to apply the skills I’ve learned in this class to both future projects and my career by integrating a more structured and intentional approach to media creation. For future projects, I aim to continue experimenting with new techniques and tools, especially those I discovered during this class. In my career, I intend to use the collaborative and communication skills I developed to work effectively with teams, whether on set or in a corporate setting.
