Looking back on my progress in the course, I feel that I have improved greatly. I believe that my abilities in media production have significantly improved. I knew very little about the complexities of programs like Adobe Premiere Pro at the start of the course. However, with experience throughout this semester, I’ve improved my editing, and visual content creation skills. I learned how to take videos and make them into a story, with editing and other skills.

During this process, It was exciting to develop camera and video skills, using a real camera instead of my phone. Seeing the outcome of my final result felt rewarding. However, figuring out all the controls on this camera was not as enjoyable. I found it difficult to properly edit the camera, such as focusing, white balance, shutter speed, etc. With trial and error, I eventually was able to properly use the camera and learn the controls.

What I have gained as an outcome as a content creator is visually and creative photos and videos. I learned that there are more complex ways to record and capture images, such as different angles, natural lighting, etc. With this, it has helped me to grow and improve my skills to make my content more creative.

Creating this content was difficult, especially using Adobe Premier Pro and Wordpress. Being new to complex editing sites like these, I found it confusing and frustrating to learn how to properly use everything. After spending hours working on figuring out the controls, I was able to figure it out and create creative pieces.

I am most proud of my photo story project, in which I took aesthetically pleasing photos in all different areas, lighting and outfits. This project helped me to consider visual storytelling , especially in regards to the use of light and framing to convey mood and emotion.

My future profession in Journalism will greatly benefit from the abilities I’ve gained in this course, especially in the areas of photo and video. Whether it’s interviewing the public, or taking on site photos, I intend to use the abilities I’ve learned, to produce engaging material.

I am interested in looking into cinematic photo storytelling. From earlier classes, looking at the photos and scenes of films such as “The Bear” and “500 Days Of Summer”, it has inspired me to dive into this type of photo and video narrative. I want to be able to make media that tells a story.
