Brand Photos: E.l.f. Cosmetics

Taken on the Nikon D7000, these photos aim to portray the close-knit community that can form from a simple bond over makeup products. It is meant to portray “Girlhood”.

ELF VIDEO TESTIMONIAL

e.l.f. Social Media Promo Video

This video was created to promote e.l.f products to their target audiences. It showcases how the products are incorporated into a person’s day-to-day lifestyle, discussing friendships and makeup advice. The video creates a casual environment where viewers can create a relationship and comparison between them and the actress.

Data Analysis

To get a better understanding of the e.l.f’s relationships with their consumers, I went around campus asking students their preferred makeup brand. 40.9% said e.l.f is their favourite!

Summary

As a result of this course, I was able to improve on so many assets that will be crucial in future job placements. I learned all about Adobe software, and now can confidently use Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro in other facets of life.

Additionally, I now know more about the manual functions of a camera, and can confidently shoot images without running into trouble. Through these assignments, I was able to learn patience and take my time with each aspect of what I was working on.

I am leaving the course confident and with new skills, I will be able to use myself as a creator. I hope to take time over the next year to learn more about the features offered within Adobe Creative Cloud, and how they can be used to positively impact my work. There are so many features offered on these platforms that I am not even aware of, so I plan to mess around with videos and photos in both Premiere Pro and Photoshop to experiment with what different settings are available.

This course overall was very useful for anyone in Media and Communication Studies. It gives students the hands-on experience they may need for their future careers and allows them to experiment with different areas of media they might want to pursue. It allowed us to make use of the resources supplied by the Media Cage, and gave students, like myself, a better understanding of how we can use this resource in situations beyond classwork.

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
