I wasn’t here during the Week 8 class. Part of me wonders if it’s because I just wanted to give up then and there.

I say that because it’s why, even though I barely understand and sometimes get rubbed the wrong way by the amount of strategy that goes into it,, I respect the work that goes into being an influencer. It’s usually a small group or one person operation that’s still expected to answer to audiences and sponsors to stay afloat. They have to post and keep track of the many workings of their many pages down to the specific hashtag too. Without consistency in uploaded content, there’s less of a chance to go viral.

And without going viral, there’s no business. That’s why hopping on trends is so important. That’s why repurposing is important. I think both in some cases, especially when it comes to hopping onto particularly important political movements for instance, is an extremely slippery slope that many corporations and influencers fall right off of. While it can add to the genuinely in touch attitude (for example supporting a black owned business by them using #blm) it also has a chance of coming off as a tasteless way of getting more support for your product/service. Either way, it can’t be denied though that it works and does lead to a higher chance at getting exposure compared to if that hashtag wasn’t included on that Instagram post.

Anyway, I still wonder if I’m really cut out for stuff like this if so much of it leads me to feeling more disconent to try implimenting it instead of eager. Perhaps that’s just a side effect of being an extravegant creative who’s allergic to straightforward structures even within my own wheelhouses regardless of its the easier way of doing things. It just feels less human, and I’ll continue to say that no matter where I go.
