Hey everyone,
This week I learned about content inventories, content audits, and metadata. Huy Tran highlighted three key points that I found to be quite useful to know. He highlighted that (1) you should make sure that you pay attention to trends, (2) maintain consistency throughout your content, and (3) build trust with your audience through your content. I agree with this because you want to engage your audience and keep them hooked, and trends are a great way to get people aware of your brand as they intrigue people. I also agree because consistency in content and trust with your audience helps to build credibility, professionalism, and a reputable brand, which would help to retain your consumers.

This is all useful to me because I was thinking about applying for a social media position for Osmow’s (they have a recent job posting on LinkedIn). So if I were to get hired, I would ensure that Osmow’s is hopping on certain/fresh social media trends and using trending catchy music. For example, using memes (in a post or short videos) to promote their products, especially their newly-released products like “the Ozbox”. Osmow’s does a good job at maintaining consistency with their posts and style guide, so as a social media manager, I would continue to do that. I would continue to build trust with the audience by engaging with them by asking questions like “Did you try out our new Ozbox yet?” and asking for their feedback through Instagram polls and/or surveys.

Huy also talked about metadata and how search keywords should be included in it. He mentioned a hidden tip that I didn’t think of before, which was quite eye-opening and informative. He said that the keywords should also be in the internal metadata and that this will help with obtaining a higher SEO rank. So if I were to get hired, I would ensure their content had keywords like “best shawarma places to eat”, “Mediterranean cuisines”, or “halal places to eat”. This is because these are all keywords that relate to their brand, include consistent keywords they use on their platforms, and in marketing, and are just common things people would search up related to it. So I’d suggest using these keywords on the website and its backlinks (which are part of the internal metadata) to help with SEO rankings. But it’s important to note that you shouldn’t “keyword stuff” and focus on one or two keywords to get better results (Robbins, 2023). As well as to always “remain relevant” to your brand, and its purpose, and not fully be consumed by SEO rankings (Robbins, 2023). So I would make sure to use one or two of the keyword phrases I mentioned and focus on those for Osmow’s website, brand purpose, and SEO. Essentially, balancing all these aspects in an effective and moderate way to achieve maximum success for Osmow’s brand.
