Hey everyone,

Are you trying to find effective ways to content strategize and/or market? Well, I learned some effective tips regarding this topic that I could use for my sister’s small business, as I would help with her social media content and presence. For some context, my sister’s small business is a homemade dipped treats business, and she uses Instagram to promote and sell her products.

Dee Thompson, a content creator, and marketer voiced that it’s important to keep your content “short and sweet” as people have short attention spans. I agree with this as these days many of us want direct content that tells us the purpose quickly and isn’t very long as people have limited patience for lengthy content. If content becomes too long, it risks losing the interest of even initially engaged audiences. In a world where many alternatives exist, I believe brevity can be a powerful tool to attract and retain users while building brand loyalty. I will use this tip to keep content short and sweet while promoting my sister’s dipped treats, ensuring that the videos of the products aren’t too long as well as the Instagram captions. I would ensure to keep the captions brief and only include relevant information by specifically including direct information about the product, while also keeping it engaging/interactive with the audience.

This also ties into what Lopes and Beatriz mentioned, which is that emotional engagement and user engagement are important factors in successful content promotion/marketing on social media platforms (2022). I will ensure to ask engaging questions on social media posts to get users to interact with our content and products. For example, I will ask questions under a post about dipped strawberries: What chocolate do you like to get your strawberries dipped in, white or chocolate? Also, Thompson mentioned how you’re “going to want to do some trendy things” to attract users and to repurpose content. So, for my sister’s business, she caters her treat designs to holidays, so I will ensure to cater the social media content to that specific holiday that is “trending” since it is coming up soon. So, for example, since Halloween is trending right now, in my caption, I will use a question like: “Did you snag your spooky treats yet?” or “What’s your favourite spooky dipped treat?” and then gradually continue about the product.

Also, Lopes and Beatriz highlighted that it’s important “to get feedback and ideas” like by “creating polls to vote and comment” (2022, para. 20). I would integrate this concept by conducting polls on what customers would like to purchase for an upcoming holiday. For example, “What should we drop next for the holiday menu? Hot Chocolate Bombs or dipped candy canes?” or “Are you interested in a Valentine’s Day treat box? Yes or no”. Questions like these can all help my sister figure out what more people are interested in and what’s in demand. We could also ask people to comment under certain posts what treats they would like us to release and post a link to a survey in our bio to leave feedback about our services and products and give a small incentive (e.g., discount, free item, or points to get a free item) for those who have completed it. This also creates engagement and interactivity with your audience, as it makes them feel like they have a “voice” in the products you offer and can get something beneficial. Therefore, this effective content strategy and marketing will attract people to the business/products.
