Today I heard from Huy Tran. I learned about his journey, and struggles throughout life as a working individual. The key lesson that I learned from his presentation is the importance of adaptability. Especially in circumstances like the pandemic, take Tran who helped Aburi Restaurants shift from a fine dining model to include delivery and grocery services. This quick change not only kept the business going but also showed how important it is to respond quickly to changes in the market. In marketing, consumer behaviours can change so quickly, that being able to adapt quickly is a must in this particular industry. I learned how Tran’s ability to spot trends, such as the demand for cocktail kits, demonstrates how important it is to act fast when opportunities arise.
Another thing I learned from Tran’s experience is the growing role of data in marketing today. As someone who doesn’t know much about actual data in the marketing industry it was interesting to learn about how, with a background in both marketing and applied economics, Tran talks about the importance of using data to guide decisions. He uses certain tools like Mailchimp to track key metrics such as email open rates, click-through rates, and how long people spend reading content. This data helps him adjust his strategies to better connect with his audience. For Tran, data is a key part of his approach, allowing him to target his audience more accurately and improve overall performance. Furthermore, with my new project in my content strategy class I found it fascinating the importance of my new project related to the collection of this data.
Additionally, Tran’s career showed how blending creativity with data can lead to success. For example, his early love for food photography, along with his skills in data analysis, enables him to create visually appealing and relevant content that resonates with consumers in his work today. For me, it’s taught me that past skills unrelated to a potential job, could truly help me advance my skills in ways I wouldn’t normally expect if I utilize them in the proper way.
Overall, Tran has learned many different skills from many different jobs that have helped him in his work today. That above all, adaptability within jobs to be able to solve problems and use them to your advantage is the most powerful asset and one I will certainly be remembering for the future.
