How did one group of seven men not only stay consistent for the last 10 years but also create one of the biggest YouTube groups of all time?

With TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and even Snapchat there are a million ways to become a social media influencer in today’s society, but as we see so many of them come and go. The biggest reason so many social media influencers not only don’t make it but disappear is because they aren’t able to stay consistent and stay with the flow.

The Sidemen are a YouTube group that originated in the UK, consisting of seven men, Joshua Bradley, Harry Lewis, Olajide Olatunji, Vikram Barn, Tobi Brown, Simon Minter, and Ethan Payne. Over thousands of videos and ten years in the industry and they are still putting out and making videos together while being super successful but how?

Over those 10 years they were able to stay consistent while not only staying true to themselves but also while making sure they are improving and moving with the times to stay as successful as possible.

They advise against combining friendship and business, yet the group claims that putting their friendships first has been crucial to their success. With The Sidemen, there is no hierarchy; everyone has an equal amount of duty, which requires that everyone be held accountable and that no one individual bear all the burdens of obligation.

The Sidemen’s success is credited to their solid brand development, effective use of their devoted fan base, and development of a subscription-based platform called Side Plus, which has enabled them to grow their studio, hire more people, and produce more material.

Due to their natural camaraderie and the relatability of their hilarious and amazing adventures, their content appeals to a wide age range, from 13 to 30 years old. With a large and devoted fan following, The Sidemen’s ascent to stardom has made them the largest superstars in the UK for anybody under the age of 30. Their connection to their audience and capacity to offer items that add value and are supported by their favourite creators are crucial to their growth and success.

No matter what The Sidemen do, from YouTube, to even starting their own vodka brand they will always have success.

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
