2021 Montreal Canadiens playoff run was one of if not the most magical times of my life. I have been a Montreal fan since 2012, after finding out my dad was a Montreal fan himself when he was younger. Like all fans of a sports team all we want to see is our team hold a championship trophy. Even though the Montreal Canadiens did not lift the Stanley Cup in 2021 they still had a magical run.
In our readings this week we read an article and in that article it talks about figuring out who we are and what differentiates us from our competitors.
The Montreal Canadiens had a horrible start to their playoff run that year it did not start as well as you would think. They tried to be exactly like their competitors in the first round, the Toronto Maple Leafs. They tried to outscore them and beat them with skill, unfortunately that isn’t who the Canadiens were, they did not have players who could outscore the Leafs or even out skill them and it caused them to go down 3-1 in a seven game series. Going into game 6 the Canadiens had to change something and oh boy they did, they went back to their roots and remembered what differentiated them from the other team, they had hard workers, and heart, and players who were never going to give up.
The Montreal Canadiens completely turned it around after going into game 6 and being 3-1 down, they won three in a row to win that series 4-3, then went on to sweep an even better Winnipeg Jets team in the second round winning that series 4-0. Going into the third round they faced the Las Vegas Golden Knights and once again the Montreal Canadiens came out on top winning that series 4-2.
Even though this Canadiens team never won it all and never lifted the Stanley Cup they were still able to go out there and prove a lot of people wrong by figuring exactly what type of team they are and what exactly stands out about them compared to their competitors.
