REPEAT AFTER ME: WE DON’T CHASE WE ATTRACT

This week I’d like to touch upon some great lessons on attracting new clients, maintaining a solid clientele, and gaining the trust of your audience. I’ve had five lovely years of running a company that’s taught me so many lessons on customer service, client retention and my online presence. With the help of my area of study at Guelph-Humber, I’ve added so many skills to my tool belt.

My absolute number one tip I have for selling yourself online is to create a portfolio of work you are proud of before you launch. “Love it before you launch it” – this is something I heard from the wonderful Dee Thomson who spoke this week. She touched upon a lot of great tips for creating and maintaining a successful online presence that resonated with me. Creating a portfolio of work that represents you as a brand is a great start before launching. The first impression is the most important and as a new bu

siness, this is huge!

Much like the video we watched in class, I think it’s very important to note that anytime you teach a new skill or do work for someone you should be sending them home with a manual or a set of guiding instructions to prep them for future days. With my clients, after a lash training, they take home a highly detailed manual that covers all knowledge and theory taught. When opening a small business social media has been proven to do wonders in attracting clients. Educating my clients on how to build their social media accounts and ATTRACT followers is something I pride myself on. Something as simple as creating detailed captions that catch their audience’s attention, educate them, and make them want to interact with the content is key!

After reading a Forbes article about the benefits of blog posts for your business I was able to relate to clients reading a post compared to reading a caption. According to Forbes, they are “a great opportunity to converse with new prospects and past customers. They’re already on your site to read that blog post, so your design could lead them deeper into your sales funnel. Popular posts can boost traffic rates as well as provide great SEO results.” Preparing my clients with useful tips and skills for promoting themselves is so important to me, I want them to go home with the confidence of knowing they are ready to get started!

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
