Hi everyone! Welcome back to Sophia’s stamp, where we keep it honest and authentic. Today, our guest presenter was Ebony-Renee Baker. She is a Canadian journalist and content creator who is currently working as an editor for Refinery29’s UK fashion. I must admit, I could listen to this woman speak for hours. She is very knowledgeable about her field, and I absolutely love the diversity of her journey. She explains the importance of trying new things to see what suits her best. Her decision to relocate to the UK on a work visa was incredibly inspiring to me. She didn’t know where it would lead her, but she still took the leap of faith regardless. That is absolutely admirable, and I am so happy it worked out for her. I really appreciated how she used the phrase “fake it till you make it” because it holds so much truth! When you find yourself in a new work environment, it’s important to adjust and behave like you are meant to be there. I also really enjoyed her teaching the value of understanding what the brand stands for and how it ties in with your own demographic. She is right! Your name will be attached to the company, so it should be something that you can truly stand behind! She taught me that you should never see other people as competitors but as assets! Lastly, I appreciated her advice about meeting new people, putting yourself out there and applying for internships. She taught me the importance of networking. Your network is your net worth! I have no notes for her! She had my full attention the entire time. 10s across the board! She definitely has SOPHIAS STAMP OF APPROVAL!
Until next week! Stay tuned!
