P.K. Subban is very well known as being a defenseman in the NHL playing for three teams, the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, and the New Jersey Devils before he retired, now he is very known for his brand the P.K. Subban Foundation and one of the NHL’s biggest ambassadors. Before becoming these things he was just an ordinary NHL player who was drafted in the second round of the 2007 NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

In addition to his long career in entertainment and sports, Subban has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to community improvement and charity causes. P.K. was always destined to be more than just an NHL player, and you could see it even from his early days of playing with Montreal. He would always donate to and visit the Sick Kids Hospital in Montreal, but all those visits and small donations he did over the years, no one could have ever imagined what he was about to do.

In 2016 P.K. Subban made one of the biggest donations by a sports figure in Canadian history, by donating a minimum of 10 million dollars to the Sick Kids Hospital in Montreal. This donation also kick started his wonderful foundation that is now known as the P.K. Subban Foundation, which is working towards helping families who are financially affected by illnesses.

After being traded to Nashville people thought his dedication to Montreal and charity work was over but in reality it was the opposite of that. He still has yearly visits to the Sick Kids Hospital in Montreal and his foundation still donates money to those in need. In order to further his charitable endeavors, Subban established the Blueline Buddies program when playing for Nashville Predators. Through this program, he provides a member of the Metro Nashville Police Department with game tickets, dinner, and game day and post-game support to underprivileged youth, lifting their spirits and providing them with a brief window of time to forget about the outside world. Subban hosted this program for every Predators home game when he was playing.

Even though P.K. Subban’s career is long done and in his past his charity work is still very formidable especially in what he likes to call his second home. He is also well known as one of the NHL’s biggest ambassadors, continuing every day of the NHL season to build his brand and grow his foundation to help others in need.
