This week we had two fabulous guest speakers: Kyle Thomas, who is a former EY consultant and is now a digital marketing and image consultant for not-for-profit organizations. The second was Nneka Elliot; a talented actor and content creator. Kyle suggests that to solve the clients problem, is simple by listening to what needs they are requiring to be fulfilled. Probing where need be finding exactly what they need to have done will help you determine how you can go about finding the solution. Kyle explains his “as is” and “to be” models. “As is” gives you an understanding of where the company is currently at, where the “to be” model is what their goal is. Research is your next step; get familiar with their culture and who the company is and the people that they serve. Discovering who their ideal persona will be instrumental in helping to fill their needs. Kyle’s most important goal is customer satisfaction. When it comes to ads, Kyle doesn’t charge his clients to run the ad, but gets a percentage of the revenue generated from that ad. It not only incentivizes him to do his best work so both parties are happy.

Shifting gears to the content creation, Nneka brings up the differences of content she puts on the different social medias. Which connects with how Kyle goes about listening to his clients needs; Nneka researched what types of content each of the social media sites respond to best. Something made for Twitter most likely won’t hit the same on Instagram. As Kyle said you have to know what your client wants, when it comes to digital creation, you have to know who your consumers are on the different social media platforms. Nneka goes on to say, she posts the content that she wants to see more of. I believe that’s a really good strategy as the people consuming her content may search for more the same, maybe even create their own. With the themes of struggling mothers, mental health etc, there can never be enough positive content about these topics. Getting people to be more open and supportive not only helps the person making the content, but the ones watching/reading as well; it lets them know we all struggle, and there’s people out there to listen and help.
