Mayra Quiveo is my stepmother and also an Argentinian influencer. She is truly amazing, not at all like Cinderella’s stepmother.

She has a degree in International Trade and had worked for a long time in an international company called Kuehne + Nagel. After working there for 13 years, she decided to start her own business project. In 2020, during lockdown, she studied and graduated as a Health Coach in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition of Nueva York (IIN) and also opened her new business called “Calma Papaya”.

But, what exactly does Mayra do at Calma Papaya? As a skilled Health Coach that specializes in health and lifestyle, she manages an Instagram account (@calmapapaya) where she shares recipes and provides tips for the people to be motivated to develop a life of healthy choices. In addition, she has a website where she publishes her own blogs and where she runs an online shop she has named; “Healthy shop”, that offers a wide range of products that help people in maintaining a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.  https://calmapapaya.com/

As her stepdaughter and former student of the Intro to Content Strategy course at the University of Guelph Humber, I intend to conduct an analysis of some Content Strategy and Content Marketing tactics to help her enhance her entrepreneurial pursuits.

The importance of a Content Strategy

When you have a business it is super important to have a content strategy because “your on-site content strategy will work to convert that traffic into leads, followers and customers.” (Bowman, M. (2018, October 17). Content Strategy Vs. Content Marketing: What’s The Difference? Forbes). Having a content strategy means having a clear plan of action to market your content that aligns with your company’s objective and goals.

How to create a community?

When it comes to numbers, as of today (2023/09/22), “Calma Papaya” has 33.4 thousand followers on its Instagram account and reels that have reached a million users. However, there are other reels that have fewer than 1,000 views. This information highlights the variability of Instagram’s content performance, as some posts can achieve significant reach and engagement, while others may not perform as strongly. Maintaining a million viewers on all your posts is something that is either impossible or extremely challenging to guarantee, since there is not a special secret or receipt for this. Nevertheless, there are certain strategies that can help you drive a continuous flow or traffic into your site:

  • Be active: post blogs constantly, either personal or guest blogs. You can take some steps back at certain periods of time, but do be there because people want to see what you are doing. Keep their trust and keep them interested!
  • Focus on your analytics: are people liking your posts? Are people commenting on them? Are people sharing them? Are people saving them? It is important to have this information so that you can then replicate, fine-tune and follow up your posts. Remember that likes are not necessarily the biggest indicator of a post doing well.
  • Keep things short and sweet: people have a short attention span so try to keep everything as thigh and concise as you can.
  • Have a mailing list: email marketing offers a great opportunity to deepen relationships with leads and past customers. Send mails with monthly updates and eye catching newsletters.
  • Have an editorial calendar: it can help you plan and manage your content and content marketing strategies in terms of planning and tracking. Schedule content!

How to make money?

If you are working with your blog it is important to make money out of it. Listed below are some strategies on how to make an income with your account.

  • Affiliate networks: work with different affiliate groups to make money out of the products you talk about. Find your niche and promote products that may be useful for them! When people click to purchase these products, you earn a commission for each sale completed.
  • Brand collaboration: work with different brands in different projects. Brands will provide you with their products and/ or services for you to use and then showcase to your followers. Reach out to establish contact with different brands!
