Guest Speaker: Ebony Renee

Ebony provides good details about how and why she is in the career she is in. She underlines the importance of TikTok and how being able to adapt to new situations is crucial for her job. She further explains why content production is important and how understanding how you are representing a brand when making videos for one is crucial. She ended by stressing the importance of networking and how it is crucial in all work environments. For what it is worth, this was my personal favourite guest speaker so far.

Readings:

  • Relevant and provided a good understanding for the next class. Very digestible while maintaining relevant and useful information.

Lecture

  • This week’s examples combated my main concern from last week, where too many examples were given. They were used in a way that did not take excess time but was also relevant to future class endeavours.
  • The activity in class was engaging and gave us a good example of how to complete a user persona. This led to engaging class activity, which ended up steering away from the curriculum, though this is more welcome because it gave a bit of a mental recharge and, frankly, was fun.

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
