Career Compass: Nitan Goyal Edition
This week on Career Compass, we are analyzing advice from Nitan Goyal a Data Analyst at Hootsuite.

Follow Your Curiosity
Nitan shared his story about how data sparked his curiosity and how important being curious about something is in a career. He advises students to pursue a career they are interested in, something that sparks their curiosity and encourages them to continue learning through their role constantly. This advice is crucial to anyone who isn’t positive about what they want to do with their future. Making sure it’s something you love and want to learn more about can create a positive experience.
Once You Know, Go!
“Essentially narrow it down and you’re, you start speaking with people who are from that industry, who are from that company, who are from that space”, said Nitan. Networking is a huge part of landing jobs. Once you know what you want to do as a future career, Nitan recommends getting right into the networking business, talking with people you know in the industry, attending career fairs, and getting to know the industry. This gets your name out there and can help you land a job or get job offers when positions open. He also discusses how doing this, you start to pick up on their lingo, and you start learning things that will impress them in an interview. This can help you come across as more passionate towards the role, and show the company you have done thorough research. Networking is incredibly important in making the most of your career, so it’s important to start early. Building relationships both online and in person can present you with incredible opportunities.
