Angela McLean is a content manager and social media manager who has worked for a variety of publications, including the Toronto Star. She has experience in journalism, PR, and marketing communications. She currently works as a copywriter at Accenture, managing content for a variety of clients, including blogs and social media. Angela’s content management tools vary depending on her job, but she uses Hootsuite and the integrated Content Studio for Facebook and Instagram. She also recommends paper and pen, Excel spreadsheets, and color coding to track upcoming events and promotions.

Angela’s love of storytelling began at an early age, and her first published article was a Hilary Duff concert review. She then interviewed Duff, which she said was a turning point. Angela’s passion for writing led her to explore different avenues in the communications industry, which ultimately led her to her current role at Accenture. Despite her success, Angela remains humble and emphasizes the importance of keeping it simple when managing content. Hearing Angela’s story sparked a lot of interest in my creativity. The amount of experience she has in journalism, PR, and marketing communications is extremely impressive and she’s a role model within the industry that many people can look at for success.

As a journalism student and a fan of music, I found the Hilary Duff interview to be the most exciting and interesting piece of work Angela has had the pleasure of completing. Being able to write and interview pop stars would be one of the most exciting moments of your career and hearing Angela speak on that was extremely interesting.

I found Angela’s interview to be one of my personal favorites and I’m glad my peers and I had the opportunity to hear her success story and the tools you can use to help yourself along the way to success.

Land Acknowledgment

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
