I’m Sara, welcome to my Media Production Toolkit Portfolio 🙂
Included is three of my assignments from this course; my photo assignment, my video assignment and my audio assignment. I also have a fun data visualization of the brand I focused on for all my assignments. I hope you enjoy!
All of my assignments are focused on Apple, and their Education Savings program that helps students get a better price for all their Apple needs.
Photo Assignment
These photos focus on the social side of university life. The photo on the left shows four friends sitting around one of the lounging areas at UofGH, simply hanging out and doing what we do in between classes; just chill. Some of us are doing assignments (on an Apple MacBook), some of us are playing Clash of Clans to relax (on Apple iPad). But we’re just doing what students do. The photo on the right takes more of a branding focus, while still embracing the social aspect. There are three friends, sitting in front of the UofGH sign, laughing while holding their iPhones up.
These photos focus on the branding and actual SCHOOL part of school, doing homework. The photo on the left shows one of my friends, Veronica Marino, doing an assignment on her MacBook Pro. The photo on the right shows one of my friends, Emily Edwards, doing an assignment on her iPad. These photos make sure to capture the Apple products very specifically and the Apple logo.
This photo makes sure to focus on the logo on the Apple Pencil, while my friend does her homework, showcasing the variety of Apple products used for school work.
These are a few other photos from the assignment, mainly just focusing on the Apple products simply being used in a school setting and how effective and efficient they can be used regarding education. Whether it be for communication, school work, or simply just socializing, each Apple product has a place in a school setting. Showing audiences how useful the Apple Education Savings discount is for students.
And that’s the photo assignment!
Video Assignment
For my video assignment, I was inspired by Apple’s collaboration with Olivia Rodrigo for her music video ‘get him back!’, where the entire video was shot on an iPhone 15 Pro. The music video did not explicitly mention Apple at all, the only connection was in the description and the title image being in the Apple font.
I love this idea, this subtly of the marketing made it even more appealing. I decided for my video assignment, to recreate an artists music video and somehow connect it back to Apple Education Savings. I ended up going with Gracie Abrams and her music video for her song ‘Risk’.
In the music video, Gracie is obsessed with a guy she hasn’t even met yet. I thought this would be a fun idea to connect to the trend of having a ‘hallway crush’ at school. I tried to copy each frame exactly. This was probably the coolest and most fun assignment I’ve ever done!
Audio Assignment
For my audio assignment I used the footage from my video assignment and turned it into a 30 second phone sized advertisement for Apple Education Savings. I continued using Apple Music to endorse the student discount, as music is a critical part of being a student.
Data Visualization
For my data visualization, I created a bar race graph to compare the statistics of the connection between students GPA and their top listened to artist. When looking at the graph, it is clear that Taylor Swift is popular among students with the highest GPAs.
