Photography

Here are some photos I took during a nighttime stroll around Humber’s campus. I wanted to go for shots that played with the available light I had (i.e. street lights, etc.)

Here are some photos I took for my capstone in another program. I was aiming to make stylized photography inspired by the techniques of Jack Bridgland as well as the style of Fight Club (1999) by David Fincher.

Here are some very colourful portraits I’ve taken. I tend to lean towards oversaturation as an artistic tool, and I love experimenting with colours that pop.

Video

Product Video Sequence: Minute Maid

The main goal of this project was to highlight the key components of a product’s features in a visually stunning 45-second sequence.

Event Highlight Video: National Mortgage Conference

I edited this corporate-style highlight video for Mortgage Professionals Canada. The video showcases the various things that one may have missed.

The Glamour of Humber Arboretum

This is a vlog I made while struggling to come up with an idea for my video assignment… Initially, I had planned on doing an aesthetically pleasing montage of shots around Humber Arboretum, until I had actually stepped outside. Cannabis containers, cans of beer, cigarette butts, and for God’s sake, GARBAGE. I decided to instead take the garbage I found on my walk and make them the stars of the show. Enjoy!

"The Glamour of Humber Arboretum" - Mobile Release

This is simply just the vlog above edited in mobile format.

Audio

One very bad night

I made this audio commentary about a fun college story I had involving a bottle of Pink Whitney, a shower, and a LOT of water… so to speak.

Media Production Toolkit - Reflection

I loved this class! Though I did know a lot of the skills taught in this class, it was such a great opportunity for me to refine my skills. I found the simpler, beginner-level assignments gave me a lot of creative freedom.

I think my favourite part of this class was my slow-but-steady improvement in video recording and editing skills. I really enjoyed the vlog assignments, as these were where I felt the most excited to get started. I love YouTubers like SlushyNoobz and Claire Drake, and a lot of their vlogging styles are what built the inspiration for my vlog assignment.

I found some difficulty in coming up with image series ideas, as I can only do so much living in a college residence. But what I really enjoyed was actually shooting the images. I loved experimenting with different angles, lighting, and framing, and I also appreciated the post-process.

From here, I want to explore more in personal vlogging after seeing how simple the process can be, and I want to explore further skills in video editing. I also really enjoyed making gaming videos in my late teens, and this class brought out the inner nerd in me, so… maybe I’ll explore gaming YouTube as well!

My favourite piece of work I’ve done this semester has to be the video assignment. I loved combining both my iPhone and my Nikon Z6II to create this mocumentary, and the editing process was even more exciting.

I love graphic design and photography, but I think in the last year or so, I have focused primarily on upping my skills in video editing, and this class helped solidify its position in my Media Production Toolkit. (Mic drop.)
