Jasmine’s Reflection & Feedback:
Reflecting back onto the MDST*1300 course, I honestly really enjoyed it and speak highly of the course concepts and professor when asked by first year students who are curious about second year courses. As this is the class I find most impactful towards carrying your skills beyond the classroom and post graduation.

What areas of media production do you want to explore further based on your experience in this
class?

I would love to explore more video editing on Premiere Pro and After Effects, I find it very interesting what you can create from these resources.
How do you plan to apply the skills you’ve learned in this class to future projects or in your career?
I hope to work in the digital marketing and social media field, I enjoy studying marketing tactics and audience interests. I feel as though I can incorporate the skills I’ve gained from this class such as capture high quality images & videos that can be used to market a product or service and my ability to create an appealing website.
What did you learn about yourself as a creator through this process?
I was reminded that ‘you can accomplish anything you put your mind to,’ which is very encouraging throughout a class like this, where the majority of concepts are very new and seem scary as they come with a lot of information, but as you learn and take it step by step; it doesn’t seem so complex and you end up developing a love for photography and videography.

What was the most challenging part of creating your media content?

I would say the most challenging part of creating my media content was the new concepts that also came with lots of new information to remember. An example would be Premiere Pro, before this class I hadn’t used Premiere Pro and during our lectures and labs where we went through what the different buttons meant and how to navigate the software, it was a lot of information thrown at once but once I practiced and played around with the software, the more familiar and easier it became to use.

Which project or piece are you most proud of, and why?
When I look back at what I’m most proud of, I would have to say my video assignment, I put days into this assignment — I sat in the computer lab from sunrise to sunset. I’ve always loved editing videos every since I was younger, my cousin and I would edit together on our iPads every chance we got, so it’s an understatement to say I was thrilled to began editing on Premiere Pro. I had a lot of fun playing around with the tools and truly learnt so much, I’m so grateful the school allows students access to this resource.
