Photo Series – Kensington Market

For my photography assignment, I decided to shoot in Kensington Market as it is known for its vintage shops, colourful architecture, diverse food spots, and eye-catching street art. Kensington is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city, so I thought it would be the perfect place to create a photo series by capturing my favourite sights and details that have stood out to me.

Main Cut Video Assignment - A day at the Distillery

For my video assignment, I created a vlog-style video showcasing the Distillery Christmas Market. It is one of my favourite places to visit in Toronto during the holiday season, and I wanted to capture and share the magical atmosphere through my footage.

Vertical Cut - A day at the Distillery

For my vertical cut of the video assignment, I aimed to create a vlog-style “Spend a Day With Me” video, which is quite popular on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.  I wanted to highlight how I spent the day and some of the places worth checking out at the Distillery.

In my audio assignment, my goal was to share a story about the double-edged nature of social media. I aimed to highlight how, although these platforms are designed to connect people and bring us together, they can also have the opposite effect, causing us to feel more distant from one another.

Land Acknowledgement

The University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College are located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Black Alders” in the Mississauga language, the region is uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all. We acknowledge and honour the land we are walking on, the moccasin tracks of our ancestors and the footprints of the future generations to come.
