This assignment was an ad campaign for Fluffs tissues. In the weeks leading up to the project, I noticed that I kept getting into situations where a portable pack of tissues would have been very useful.

The last phone call of a disgruntled homeowner, seconds before they disappear …

Surprisingly, my skills in audio seemed to improve, but I was most proud of my video project. In my video project, I took initiative by learning how to use the lavalier mic, which definitely made my video feel more polished.

My favourite part of making the videos was editing. I enjoyed seeing my vision come to life – choosing the music, mixing audio, adding transitions, etc. Getting ‘in over my head’ was a common theme in my projects, and I feel as though the brainstorming process took away from the execution I was chasing after. On the flipside, my least favourite part was actually shooting. A lot goes into the shooting process, and I do believe I went in over my head a bit when it came to my shot list and brainstorming.

The skills I learned and constructive feedback received in this class have left me well-equipped for any video, audio or photography, or basic web design I may have to do in the future. In the future, I can see myself further exploring web design, photography or videography as avenues for freelancing.

However, the most significant skill I learned in this class was time management. You can have a very strong concept, but it all falls apart if you don’t plan properly. Coming up with an impactful idea and making time to record or shoot is extremely important.
